Does Journaling really help?

We often hear the suggestion, "Maybe you should journal and get your thoughts out on paper." But does this really help? Isn't it just like talking to yourself? I believe it does help, significantly. The reason is that it essentially is talking to yourself and expressing what you wanted to say to others, but they were either busy or unavailable. And that’s perfectly fine.
People have their own lives to lead. Not everyone will always be available to listen, talk, or even text you daily, weekly, or even monthly. Journal for yourself, not to please anyone else. Let your thoughts flow. I think the main reason journaling is effective is that there is no judgment on the other end. It’s like speaking to God—there’s no response, so you’re speaking to life, and life is listening. So next time you consider journaling, I would suggest giving it a try and seeing how it works for you. If you read this and tried it out, let me know how it worked for you or if you find journaling pointless or beneficial.
